Responsible Play

Swagrush is a promotional competition platform — not a gambling or lottery service. We are fully compliant with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) Section 32. Even so, healthy participation habits matter. This page explains the tools we provide, our security posture, and where to get help if you need it.

Our Commitment to Healthy Participation

Swagrush is built on the belief that a promotional competition platform should give participants every possible tool to stay in control of their spending and time. We have engineered responsible participation features directly into the platform infrastructure — not as an afterthought checkbox, but as first-class features.

These features are available to all users immediately from your account settings. No waiting period, no form to fill — they activate instantly.

Self-Exclusion

Voluntarily block yourself from accessing the platform for a chosen period — 7 days up to 1 year. Irreversible until the period ends.

Spending Limits

Set daily, weekly, and monthly spend ceilings that the platform enforces automatically — no willpower required.

Entry Limits

Cap how many competition entries you accumulate per day, week, or month at the platform level.

Reality Check Reminders

Timed check-ins at configurable intervals (default 60 minutes) notify you how long you have been active.

Cooling-Off Periods

Apply a temporary pause to your account at any time — a lighter tool than full self-exclusion for short breaks.

Activity Transparency

Full purchase history, entry log, and wallet ledger available in your dashboard at all times.

All responsible play tools are configured from Account Settings → Responsible Play. They take effect immediately and cannot be overridden by staff during active periods.

Self-Exclusion

Self-exclusion is the most powerful responsible play tool available. When you activate it, your account is immediately locked for the selected duration. You will not be able to log in, purchase, or enter competitions until the period expires.

This action cannot be reversed before the selected period ends. This is an intentional design choice — the tool is only effective if it holds firm.

If you have been excluded and need emergency access for account-related reasons (not competition access), contact us at laurels@swagrush.app — support staff can assist with data requests or billing queries but cannot lift an active exclusion.

Self-Exclusion Details

Available durations: 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year
Takes effect immediately upon confirmation
Cannot be reversed before expiry — by design
Existing competition entries remain valid during exclusion
No purchases or new entries possible during exclusion
You will be notified by email when exclusion ends
Exclusion can be renewed before it expires

Spending & Entry Limits

You can configure hard limits on your account that the platform enforces automatically. Once a limit is reached, further purchases or entries are blocked for the remainder of that period — regardless of cart contents or payment availability.

Spending Limits

Set maximum spend amounts in Rands per period. The tracker runs from midnight each day / Monday each week / 1st of each month.

Limits are enforced at the database level — not just the UI — so they cannot be bypassed by a different browser, device, or session.

Reality Check Reminders

Reality check reminders are periodic notifications that appear after you have been browsing or active for a configurable interval. The default is every 60 minutes. The notification tells you how long your current session has been active and prompts you to take a break.

You can adjust the interval — shorter if you prefer more frequent reminders, or longer if you find them disruptive. You can also disable them entirely, though we recommend keeping them on.

Configure your interval in Account Settings → Responsible Play.

Taking regular breaks helps you maintain perspective. Step away, hydrate, and return when you are refreshed.

Data Security & Privacy

We believe security should be transparent. Below is a detailed account of the technical and operational protections we have implemented — not because we are required to publish this, but because we think you deserve to know exactly how your data is handled.

AES-256 Encryption at Rest

Storage

Every database record — including your personal data, payment history, and competition entries — is encrypted at rest using AES-256, the same standard used by major financial institutions.

TLS 1.3 in Transit

Network

All data between your browser and our servers travels over TLS 1.3, the current gold standard for transport security, with forward secrecy enabled.

End-to-End Encrypted Email (Tuta)

Communications

Transactional emails are sent via Tuta (formerly Tutanota), one of the few email providers offering genuine end-to-end encryption with a zero-access architecture — even Tuta cannot read your messages. Comparable to ProtonMail.

PCI-DSS Compliant Payments (Ozow)

Payments

Swagrush never stores, processes, or sees your banking credentials. All payment data passes exclusively through Ozow's PCI-DSS certified gateway. We receive only a transaction confirmation reference.

Two-Factor Authentication

Authentication

Two-factor authentication is available on all accounts for an additional identity verification layer beyond password.

POPIA Compliance & Information Regulator Registration

Legal

Swagrush is registered under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). You hold legal rights to access, correct, delete, and port your data. Breaches are reported to the Information Regulator within required timeframes.
